Science Week in 3rd Class

22nd Nov 2024

As part of Science Week, we began learning all about Electricity. We began the ‘Stay Safe Stay Clear’ lesson plans created by the ESB. We learned all about static electricity by carrying out an experiment with a balloon and tissue paper. We learned all about how electricity gets to our school and the names for the types of wires and cables that electricity travels through to get to our homes. We learned about the dangers of electricity and how to stay safe around electricity. We designed posters to enter into the ‘Stay Safe Stay Clear’ poster competition with ESB. The class did an amazing job at creating posters to demonstrate how to stay safe around electricity. We are also carrying out projects on electricity using the Chromebooks.

As part of Science Week, we also worked in groups to design the longest paper chains. One group made a paper chain that was the same width as the class. They really enjoyed the challenge!
