Parnell Park Fingal finals
The senior boy's and girl's football teams played in two Fingal finals in Parnell Park yesterday. A bus full of supporters from the school went to support them. The boys played against Donabate ETNS and the girls played against Pope John Paul's NS from Malahide.
The boy's match was a close affair with both teams taking the lead at different points. Unfortunately, Donabate ETNS started to pull ahead in the last ten minutes and we didn't get the breaks we needed to run them close. Ollie Hughes hit the crossbar with about five minutes to go. The lads all performed excellently it must be said with some valiant defending and rampaging attacking play.
The girls match was closely contested in the first half with some great goals and points from the Marnock's girls. Alas, PJP's started to widen the gap in the second half but the Marnock's girls never gave up and persisted until the end.
The supporters were also a credit to the school and never gave up shouting for their teams.
Both team's committment and skill is a testament to the great coaching they received this year from Mr. Doherty, Mr. Corkery, Mr. Spellacy, Ms. Lalor, Mr. Barnes and Ms. Dillon.
