Junior Football Week 2

17th Sep 2024

Our junior footballers had two fantastic wins in their Tuesday games.

First of all, it was the boys away to St Anne’s Park up against the mighty Belgrove. Some people describe Dublin vs Kerry as the pinnacle of Gaelic Football, but that wouldn’t even compare as to what happened in St Anne’s today.

An end to end game, full of goals, points, hard tackling, fabulous footwork and remarkable skills. Our lads came out just slightly on top. There was so much drama in this game we might not need to teach it for a few weeks!

Early in the second half we got two goals on the bounce, to leave us two points up. The mighty lads from Clontarf, came back with two goals of their own. We had one minute to take a kick out and score a goal. AND WE DID IT!!  Up the mighty Marnocks.

The girls, who played at home on the field of dreams in Naomh Mearnóg, came out big winners in a battle against St Brigids.

The junior girls were top class once again, knocking in 6 goals on the day! The September sunshine was unbelievable! Right foot, left foot, right hand, left hand! It didn’t matter for the Marnocks girls, they could play the football any which way!

Well done to all of the children, parents and guardians involved today. There was 40+ children playing across the two games today. A huge number!

Thank you to Mr Barnes, Ms Dillon, Ms Flynn, Ms Power, Mr Cooper and  Mr Spellacy for helping out with all of the training and games!
