Fifth Class story writing competition
Over the last three weeks, the students of fifth class have been busy writing and re-writing their stories for the competition. They learned how to 'hook' the reader, how to craft a plot and how to describe characters and settings. The only condition for the competition was that the stories had to be 1,000 words or less. Last week Mr. Maughan, Ms. Whelan, Mr. Doherty and Ms. Shanahan read the stories and got together to choose two winners from each class and an overall winner.
Here they are:
Mr. Maughan's class : Emmy Glover and Dylan Dunne
Mr. Doherty's class: Isla Gilliland and Shane McGarr
Ms. Whelan's class: Heather Grogan, Oisín Moran
Overall winner: Nia Lodge from Ms. Whelan's class.
Although these were the overall winners, it must be said that a great effort was made overall.
