Celebrating Autism Acceptance Month

31st Mar 2025

This April, the children in St. Marnock's will be celebrating Autism Acceptance Month!

This will begin in our 5th and 6th Classes on Tuesday, 1st of April, the eve of World Autism Day. The classes will take part in a virtual event hosted by Ireland's Autism Charity, AsIAm, in collaboration with Microsoft's Dream Space programme to bring Dream Space Live into Irish schools.

Featuring AsIAm CEO Adam Harris and Michael Barrett from Microsoft Dream Space this live interactive streaming event, will challenge misconceptions, explore real-world solutions, and highlight how we can make schools more inclusive for all.

In all classes from Junior Infants to 6th Class, the children will explore Autism and learn about what it means to be Autistic. The children will watch some lovely videos that we will share here:

We are also proud to announce that St. Marnock's is taking part in the Autism Friendly Schools Project. Our aim is to create a school culture that is more inclusive of Autistic students and adults. You will find more information on this in the 'Parents' section of the school website under 'Special Education'. Check back here soon for updates!
